An AFR gauge does speed up tuning but I find I get them just as close by plug reading and driveability. It sounds like the OP has a pretty good handle on it. I don't think you'll gain enough going to AVS to make it worthwhile, if you didn't have the AFB's then I would get the AVS. I was impressed the stock 1407 jetting was right on for my friends 572 with a Mod Man and similiar camshaft, we used 1-1 linkage though.
