440 Spark Plug Wire lengths
« on: December 25, 2016 - 04:47:16 AM »
When I open a box of spark plug wires there is no diagram where the wires go. I can figure out that the longest should be #7 and the shortest #2, but all the others? Is there anybody out there that has a list of wire lengths and cylinder numbers? :clueless:

It's just a process of trial and error.  Since the distributor is on the passenger side the longer wires go to the drivers side and the shorter to the passenger.  Pick the two longest wires.  Longer of the two to the Drivers side, ie #7.  Next two longest and repeat. Longer to #5 and so on.  Good luck and Merry Christmas.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda.  Matching numbers 440 U Code, 4 speed pistol grip, Rallye dash, AM 8 Track, Shaker hood, 15 inch rallye wheels, Dana 60 4.10, Super Track Pak.  One of 134 - 440 "U" coupes codes built in 1970 and one of 100 - 440 Super Track Paks built in 1970.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

I like to get the custom length sets. It takes a special crimp tool to get them perfect but it's worth it. I love the look of the wires when each one is just the perfect length.

Same here.  Crimping was straight forward - was concerned before buying, but not now.

I always use the shortest wire that will reach & use the long ones last cutting them to length
