That's impressive! I'd probably wet myself opening that monster up on the open road.

Out of curiosity though, do you need to strengthen up the chassis of the car to handle all that torque? What sort of things did you do? (I'd love to build something like this but I'm not sure what else is involved).

I am installing subframe connectors and inner fender supports.
I don't want to mess with it too much. Being a U code car it has torque boxes.

Wow, awesome numbers! I just finished mine and went with a solid flat tappet. 623hp with 640 torque. What are your cam specs?

Great numbers!  I really liked the 574 lb/ft torque all the way down to 3000 rpm. That monster is ready to go - RIGHT NOW!   :burnout:

I am also looking to build a 512 for my Cuda project. Would this 512 be considered a mild street driving engine or is it leaning more to a street/strip engine? I am looking to build a 512 with as much hp as possible while still maintaining street-ability. Please let us know how it performs when you get it installed. Thanks

That is what I figured. At what point HP wise does a NA 512 become non streetable? Is there a HP threshold that you would say is no longer a reliable street driver? I am looking for all the info I can for when I build my engine. I am shooting for 700hp plus NOS. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

I drove my '69 Fastback everywhere when it had about 780 HP and 685 TQ - (using numbers from my old memory - might not be exact - but they are close). I had no issues with streetablilty. The problem with high TQ/HP cars on the street is traction and finding a place to even get after it a little bit. You find that 700+ HP gets real loud when you hit the throttle and really attract attention - not cool when the popo hear you. The other issue is that you get going real fast - real quick. You are running 100+mph before you know it. Traffic is an issue, you come up on it very quickly. That said, I would say go for it....

Nice! Good specific output over a wide rpm, heads and intake must be well matched to combo.

Nice numbers!! This perfect timing for me as I just got off the phone with THE BLOCK SHOP in Edmonton Alberta and just basically told me theres no way I am making over 500hp with my 512 stroker....I'm in awww!! They built a 383 chevy stroker for my buddy that dynoed 502hp 505tq but my 512 can't make 500?

512 440 source race balanced kit
bored 30
rpm eddys
ch28 dual eddy 600's
hughes cam HEH3237BL
440 source roller tip alum rockers
headers?
3" x pipe with race bullets
i think 10.5-1 compression?
3:55 8 3/4
tci 2800 stall
shift kit

I bought the engine as is.

I figured 550 maybe more? I am considering a port n polish ,intake/head port match and going to a single quick fuel. He said take them rpms off!!! I seem to remember 512 builds with stealth heads doing 550hp. So I guess I'm asking what simple changes  I can make to increase hp/tq?

I should have started a new thread I guess but I'm sure there are many.

Thanks :canada:
