Selling parts on KiJiJi/Craigslist.....
« on: December 27, 2016 - 03:10:26 PM »
Here's why I love selling parts on these web sites.....

First off I'm trying to get rid of my customer's parts that I won't be using. In every ad I clearly mark "Local Pick-up Only" "No shipping" and "Price is Firm".  example: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?requestSource=b&adId=1222853150

So in this ad I have one of those 68-69 HEAVY cast iron bellhousings, certainly not something I would want to ship....

Here's the email I get yesterday about the above ad...

TM:"Hey im interested in the bellhousing. No crAcks or chunks missing? If i blast it comes out nice? Will you ship to perth ontario?"

My reply "Sorry ...no shipping."

TM"Like even if i pay for the shipping you wont ship?"

My reply "Yup...even if you pay the shipping. It's stated "NO SHIPPING" in all my ads. I have no interest in shipping parts. and the parts sell fast enough locally that I'm not worried about finding a buyer.

Cheers..."

TM"Nope no cheers until you ship me that part all inclusive for 130 bucks. There is a vintage mopar out there dangerously close to being converted from its manual roots to an auto. You dont wanna help this dire situation your not a true " car guy" your just a "kijiji dickhead" with a part. Plenty of you guys..Wanna be a lad and help someone only takes about 5 minutes. 1 to place object in a box (boxes are everywhere) 4 to drop at the post office when you drive by one (post offices are everywhere) say the shipping is twenty bucks you charge 30 for your precious 5 minutes.....see everyones happy you even make a little more. You have them e transfer you the money prior to you doing anything. Everybody makes out and you dont have to be a kijiji dickhead at christmas. Hope this was helpful. MERRY CHRISTMAS"

My reply"Thank you for your kind offer, but I have a restoration business to run and I don't have time to deal with boxing up parts and shipping them off to people who are too lazy to hop in the car and come and pick them up. In the future I suggest you read the KiJiJi ads thoroughly and take note of the "local pick up only" or "no shipping" , "price is firm" type wording, it's there for a reason. "

TM"Yes and that reason is your a dick plain and simple. When your business fails remeber its because your a dick. All the bad things that happen to you are because of your dickhead attitude. Remember that Alan. No cheers for you..."

My reply"If you like to pay for it in full now with Interac or PayPal, I will hold it for you until you can drive down and pick it up, otherwise I will have to just sell it to someone else. Price is FIRM at $100.00.
Cheers...
"

TM"Nope no cheers for you Alan. Enough "true car guys" around here my lazy ass will find one without having to drive 10 hours. Some guys in this business wanna help some dont. Ill take my business to the guys who do. Word of mouth Alan. No cheers for you Alan"

My reply" Okay, thank you"

You would think one would be a little nicer if he actually wanted me to ship the part :screwy: I guessing he's some young kid who is used to having everything handed to him on a silver platter

On another note I had a guy a few weeks ago from Quebec who bought parts and is planning on driving here to pick them up...

Your big mistake Alan, was to continue the conversation after you told him, the second time, "no shipping"! It's amazing the nerve of some of these trolls when they're using their keyboard rather than facing you, eh? Wouldn't it be nice to introduce him to your two friends, Smith and Wesson?  :screwy:

I hate selling stuff because of nutcases like this. I'd rather give the parts to someone I know.

Unbelievable! That TM is an idiot on so many levels. He can't read, won't take 'no" for an answer and does he really think all his lip is going to make you say sorry and change your mind on shipping.

I just had to drive 12 hours for a set of wheels! Guy, like you, owned a shop and couldn't ship. I broke up the drive by putting a hunting trip in the middle.  :cooldancing:

Wow, after the dickhead comment it would have been over for me, he couldn't have even afforded it if he showed up throwing money, the parts are now made of unobtanium for that individual.

I was enjoying writing the replies and trying to "kill him with kindness" as they say....I just can't believe there are people out there that actually respond in that matter....

If it was something I desperately needed and the ad said "no shipping".....I would try by asking the seller nicely if there was anything I could do to change his mind ? If I was real eager, I would make the guy a cash offer he couldn't refuse, at least twice his asking price if needed......I think the last thing I would do is start name calling and insults......I guess it takes all kinds :screwy:

I'm selling a couple of diesel trucks on Kijiji right now. I feel your pain. Some people should just be shot.

I don't know about in Canada but UPS will pick up items and package and ship to you for A fee. if I wanted or needed something that bad that is an option. :2cents:

I'm sure that is an option here too. I would think a heavy cast iron bellhousing would cost more for that service then the $100 I was asking for the item  :dunno:

It still might be cheaper than A 20 hour round trip, fuel and time. plus in the time the dude spent wasting your time.
