71 Cuda Fender Louver Attaching Hardware.
« on: December 29, 2016 - 03:29:17 PM »
I removed my fender louvers the other day and sent them to S.F. Restoration to have them refinished and noticed that the backing plates had 2 different styles of hardware. The majority (6) louvers were held on by the enclosed type nuts and required a 7/16" socket to remove (like in the first photo) and the remaining 2 louvers were held on by regular Pal Nuts (like in the second photo) and used a 3/8" socket for removal. So my question is which hardware is correct ?

Thank you Alan.....I assume they are difficult to find. Any suggestions where to look?

People will try and sell you ones that look correct but are not "self cutting" but rather for machine thread which are different and won't work properly.

You will not have an easy time finding the correct ones :2cents:

A few years back, I needed nuts like that for my Super bee tail light trim. I found them at Mr G's Fasteners. Not sure if they still have them but its worth a try. They have a lot of hard to find stuff like that.

i had a repro set for my cuda that. the best thing to do is rethread a 10-24 die over each stud around 1/3 of the way down the stud, then use 10-24 flange nuts
