Fast ratio arm & manual box?
« on: December 30, 2016 - 11:29:13 AM »
I currently have power steering (large spline box) on my 73 challenger with the fast ratio arm. I'm think about swapping over to a manual steering. Will the FR arm work with the manual box?
Thanks,
Gary

I believe the manual box has a different spline but I could be wrong, give them a call and ask; they are awesome guys and love everything Mopar. I live about 1.5 hrs from them and have been to their shop several times; great guys to talk to and hang with. They definitely know Mopar steering and are very honest.
Current Mopar
70 Challenger RT 440-6 EFI, 73 Cuda 416-6 EFI
05 Hemi Durango, 01 Ram 4x4, 14 Ram 2500 4X4, 10 PCP Challenger 6 spd RT, 01 Viper GTS ACR, 52 B3B w/330 Desoto Hemi, 70 Hemi RR (under const)
Past Mopars
9 x Challengers. AAR Cuda, 4 RR, 2 GTX, 4 Chargers, etc... (too many to list)

I bought firm feel fast ratio kit for my 70 barracuda with manual steering. what I found was the longer arms made the tie rods angel to much. vary hard to steer, especially at low speeds and tight situations. needless to say I put it back the way it was.   :2cents:

I went with a stage III power box rebuild and the FR arms in my Challenger, hugely different and very responsive.

Was that with the 20:1 or 24:1 box?

I currently have the FF stage ll ps box with the fr arm. I thinking of ditching the ps for manual to take some weight off the front end. I'm hoping I don't have to buy a new pittman arm.

Update:
I purchased what was described as a large sector manual box. Turns out it's a small sector and no one seems to have a large sector manual box. :stomp: Also the Fast ratio pitman arm on my power box was being very stubborn. :banghead: I was able to get the price reduced on the manual box due to the drescip being incorrect and i used that to purchase a small sector fast ratio arm.  :cooldancing:
I have it all installed, now just waiting for a test drive.
Weight diff. for anyone interested 39lbs.
