Top was replaced and it is in great shape.
I plan on driving this car as is for this summer. Next winter I will repaint the car and replace the top with the correct white top.
If I'm driving it the top will be down any way.

Spent some time on it yesterday. Added wheel moldings, stripe, and mirrors.

I LOVE THIS CAR!  Beautiful job!   :wow: :droolingbounce:

V3W White Top car originally.

Mine had no top when I bought it. It was an original V3W too but I put a Black top on.

The more I look at your car the more I want a ragtop Challenger. Maybe if I do a reverse Mortguage.

Here is a new picture with my Spyder mag wheels.
We had a stretch of very nice weather so a couple outside pictures.
Added disc brakes also.
Engine repair is done, had a bad head gasket.
Once I get a front end alignment done it will be ready for spring.

Me too! Those are so nice, was only -71 right? If they were available in -70 I would add the wide ones in a heartbeat.

Anyone know what a set of hood periphery molding cost these days? Would think it would brighten up the front on this car

I'm the guy who has them advertised here, driver quality, crack in center piece, $1500.

I've seen three sets on ebay, in close to 10 years of searching. All three seemed in pretty good shape, b ut it's always hard to tell without really putting your eyes on something. One sold at $2400, one did not sell at $2800, and another, the last time I looked, is still being relisted (after several attempts to sell) at $2000.

Those are the only four complete sets I've ever seen for sale. Like the others said, the fender pieces are repopped but the hood piece is not, which seems odd to me too. I'd think that the hood piece would be easier to make.

Learn something new every day. I never knew they made an optional wide trim for the 71s. If they ever re-pop the hood piece as well, I'd definitely consider getting a set for my 71. Until then I paid enough just for my grill alone that they don't re-pop so I will wait lol.

Good looking 71 convertible in a great color too! I wouldn't mind picking up a convertible one day myself :)

I was able to piece together a complete set of NOS.
I was sure that if I went with the repop parts they would not match to a original hood piece after rechromed.
I spent a fortune on these but am happy with them. Ended up with 2550.00 in the set.
Not sure of the set at 2k you mentioned but if was the set on Ebay, that person would not send me detailed pictures and then pulled the auction.
I think they work well with the 71 grill. I like the 70 grill better so these moldings help with that.
