New guy just purchased a numbers matching 71 Challenger RT
« on: December 31, 2016 - 09:43:54 PM »
I wanted to introduce myself to the forum.  I've always loved MOPARs and this is my first one.  A newly purchased 71 Challenger RT.  I'm now the lucky third owner of this car.  The guy I purchased the car from had owned it since 1976.  He repainted the car around 20 years ago (original Citrous Yella) when he added the black stripes, and had the original numbers matching 340 and transmission rebuilt to factory specs.  The car has around 65,000 original miles.  It still has the original fender tag, but the owner never looked for a broadcast sheet.  The interior is all original with the exception of the recovered seats.  He didn't recover them in RT style upholstery.  He said the sheet was not under the back seat when he took it out.  Everything under the hood is original to the car with the exception of the carb.

Anyhow, I hope you guys enjoy the car and I'm looking forward to contributing the forum.

Mark

Thanks guys for the comments.  Yeah, the stripes were his thing 20 years ago.  The body is 100% solid.  I plan on restoring it back to the original 71 RT look.  It originally had the black RT side stripes.  He also said that it had the R/T decal on the hood but he never liked it.

Thanks guys.  Yes, I'm in St Louis.  Looking for some good advice on recommendations on engine rebuilding and paint/body if you know anyone locally?
