ACCUFORM dash pads

Here's a Just Dashes pad that was done about 10 years ago, it's been in storage ever since I received it back. Everything looks pretty good but still have to check fit on the dash frame. Back then it was about $1050 and I think it included the center speaker grill.

I just put an Accu-Form dash cap in my Challenger and it looks nice, fit is amazingly nice. By looking at it the biggest tip off that it is just a cap is at the ser # cutout, also with the defroster vents not extending into the existing holes deep enough, if you look down the holes you can see the original dash at the bottom. For the casual observer or passenger it looks nice, much better than the old cracked dash. Compared to the original it "feels" hard, but really no harder than my old dash is, if you tried to squeeze it, it would crack under your fingers. I just couldn't see spending over $1200 (about 1/15 of what the car is worth) for the redone dash, though they do look very nice!

Thinking of going the cap route myself. As you are saying, the price and the trouble of returning a dash to UR / JD if it doesnt fit...
Mind posting a few pics of your cap? If your car has AC, a pic of the vents would be helpful. Please, please please...

I had one in my 73 Cuda. I took the dash out and made it fit real nice. It lasted about two years. If you are in the south with lots of sun use a sun screen or dash cover as the sun killed mine. Have you ever left a cassette tape on your dash. Same thing happened to the dash cap. Wrinkled it bad.

Thanks for the heads up,  I kinda worry about the RTV letting go, but everyone is saying the PVC cap is what fails first. I'll try to keep it covered when outside. From the seats it looks pretty good, but around some of the edges it leaves a little to be desired (gonna lose points like crazy at a show), but the car is a driver so it's good enough for me.

I know everyone says not to try it yourself, but has anyone even tried to do one of these? I mean to strip it down to bare frame, build  up the foam and wrap it in vinyl?

Just curious does anyone have a picture of a bare frame?  I might start looking around for a cheap "test" pad and play with it at those prices.....

Last I heard, Roseville had decided to get out of the dashpad business. That may have changed since about a year ago, though.

Roseville just got in a new shipment of pads.  All of them are black.  Don't know the price but give Dave a call.
I had Just Dashes do mine about a year ago.  Yes $1200 is expensive but you pretty much get what you pay for.  They did a good job on mine.  My only complaint was that I had to do a lot of trimming of the padding to make it fit on the ends and to get the speaker grills to fit. Otherwise, very nice.

Well... I have a select amount of Dash Pads Available to me now. From Texas  - these are on STEEL OEM frames . email me direct as I only have 14 in the variety.

I put a dash cover on mine, and for the price I am very happy.   To install mine I took the entire dash out to thoroughly clean the dash frame and to paint the metal parts of the dash below the cap.  Recognize that I did not have a windshield at this point, so taking it out was easy.   Also, I was installing Vintage Air Aircondtioning and having the dash out made this a lot easier especially with their connectors onto the stock factory air dash vents.   My 74 Chally had factory air, and the new cap fit everything fairly well.   a couple of issues but not bad.

A couple of points.   
1) I wish I found one for air conditioning that had NO speaker outlets.   I put in two large speakers on the package shelf, and wish I didn't have to have a fake speaker cover in the middle.  Not to mention that new speaker covers run $65.   What a rip off!!

2) Make sure that you fill in any cracks, tears etc, in the old dash cap, as if you don't they will cause problems.   

3) My instructions said to "test fit" the cover before putting on the adhesive, then if all is good take it back off, and put on adhesive.

That cover fits on tight enough that you kinda have to force it over the peak.   Mine fit well...   But then I wasn't able to get it back off so that i could apply the adhesive, without it appearing that it would tear !!   I ended up being forced to "lift/pry" it up and then shooting 3M spray adhesive using a tip under it and working around doing this.   Also, since i dont have a speaker in the large middle speaker hole, I used that area to "bolt" the cap into there.   Luckily it is holding tight!!    If I hadn't taken the dash out of the car, I think I would have been screwed, and not able to get the adhesive into place.
