New to the dodge world
« on: January 02, 2017 - 07:06:40 PM »
Hello everyone I know nothing about plymouth or challengers I actually own a 68 Nova currently.  The reason I am on the board is because I have access to a pretty much garage kept 73 Cuda special. All numbers matching engine and tranny that is in excellent shape.  Can someone help me what the value of something like this might be? The car is from a family member who has had it for years.

I can post VIN number if you would like

I look forward to your input thanks everyone!

I am interested in what you mean "73 Cuda Special"...

Please post the VIN, fender tag and any other pictures you can get. I cannot say the members here will be able to tell you what you want to hear, but it will be realty based. 72, 73 & 74 Ebodies (Barracuda, Cuda and Challenger) are beginning to come into their own but they have yet to reach 70 and 71 values; probably will never reach that.

What is the nature of your inquiry? Is this car coming up to be sold or is this just an "FYI" exercise?
Current Mopar
70 Challenger RT 440-6 EFI, 73 Cuda 416-6 EFI
05 Hemi Durango, 01 Ram 4x4, 14 Ram 2500 4X4, 10 PCP Challenger 6 spd RT, 01 Viper GTS ACR, 52 B3B w/330 Desoto Hemi, 70 Hemi RR (under const)
Past Mopars
9 x Challengers. AAR Cuda, 4 RR, 2 GTX, 4 Chargers, etc... (too many to list)

Thank you for the Reply.

Please see the attachment of the door tag.  I am waiting on the photos from my uncle at the moment.

once i get more photo's I will sure post them.

The nature of the inquiry is I am looking at what i should pay for this car if I plan keep it for awhile or if i decide to sell it down the road for a profit.

I think he means special because the vin says Barracuda Special. the BS only indicates that it is a 'Cuda not a Barracuda.
Pictures of the actual car will help with a more accurate valuation on it. Common rust area pictures etc. If there is a fender tag it will let everyone know what options this car had and that can change value by quite a bit.
1970 Barracuda project in the making!

I didn't know they still were making a 3 spd manual in '73.  If you can verify the engine and trans match that would help.  Also, need pics of interior, trunk, undercarriage, rockers, dutchman panel to verify any rust.  If all this checks out it looks like a nice car, but nothing exceptional and its a '73 so I would say mid-20's.

Nice car, looks to be a survivor which would be a good thing.

I am very sure you could get a 3 spd in 73 as I had a 74 Roadrunner that was a factory 3 spd (but not for long after I got it)

I would agree with the above, if everything checks out and no rust mid to low 20s

Normally I am one of the cheap ones on here, however I would say that if this car is solid and has good paper (clear linage of ownership, documentation, etc) I am thinking more than stated here; I would say perhaps high 20's and perhaps a little more with the right buyer. This is based on a clean car w/o major issues and cleaned up well. I cannot imagine they made a lot of 340 cars with a 3 speed that remain today. I am last guy to praise stock, but if it made it this far in stock condition then it should be viewed as a survivor and sold as such. Of course there are a lot of variables here which we on this forum cannot ascertain without personally inspecting the car, but I think it is worth saying.

Welcome to the site from  :canada:   I'll stay out of the guessing game, but I will say that I think you've got a pretty nice car there- it being a 73 be-damned! You're about 75% (based on the car being overall as nice as the pics show) on the way to having a nice example of the genre. If your Chevy-ness overcomes you, there'll be no problem selling it to someone who'll cherish it. Good luck either way.
