Barracuda Gran Coupe/Cuda interior P5X9 Red Trim: Trade
« on: January 05, 2017 - 08:14:15 AM »
As the title states, I am looking to trade interior trims with someone for my project. My car is an original 70 Gran Coupe and I have the woodgrain door panel inserts. I really would like to go with the P5X9 houndstooth/red trim interior and would like to trade my woodgrain trim for the red trim.

Here is the picture for example of P5X9

I would think it would be better to trade with someone than to just paint over my existing trim, so I am giving this a shot first.

I am willing to trade one complete set of 6 pieces of woodgrain trim for all interior panels PLUS extra front door trim pieces for ONE set of red trim inserts.

Currently, I have one red door trim piece that I purchased from a member here, so I may be able to work out a partial trade too?

Thanks in advance!

I am curious about the red trim piece that you do have.  Is it smooth in texture, or does it have a sort of 'wood grain' look to it, but just red?
Thanks!

Good Luck, the red trim was hard to find 30 years ago..... Woodgrain trim was pretty common, red very rare... Thirty years ago a buddy replicated the red trim by using red tape on the woodgrain trim...

Thanks!

I'll pull it off the shelf to verify, but from what I remember, it is smooth and the wood grain has the faux wood texture.

I'm sure I could use a light filler on it, but that would seem wrong in some sense... or am I just being dramatic?

I think if you used red electrical tape, it would smooth out any texture and look pretty convincing. Maybe try it on a spare piece  :dunno:

I have a lead on an incomplete set, I would just be missing one door insert. However, he doesn't want to trade. What is a fair price  for a full wood grain set and a red insert set? I'm just trying to gauge if I can sell and buy his or if I should just take Allan's recommendation and try tape or something.

Those seats are killer! Might be the best looking E-body seats I have seen.  :wow:

I could use the wood grain panels as they are missing and the panels that are on my gran coupe are aftermarket junk. let me know if you are going to sell them outright, I am interested.       Mark.

I'm actually still using my panels, I just want the inserts that fit into the panel grooves. There are some good original panels on ebay right now with the inserts, but I need just the inserts, not the whole panel.
