AAR raised hoods.
« on: January 05, 2017 - 01:40:55 PM »
Hey guys I am looking for someone who makes raised AAR hoods. I don't like the huge 6" raised ones which seems to be all I can find. I am looking for 1-2" raise over a stock AAR hood. Does anyone know where I can find one or if they even exist? I want it to still look like a AAR hood just slightly beefier. I may have to go custom I don't know. Maybe buy the AAR hood and take it to someone that is good with fiberglass and get them to raise it for me? Anyone here have a raised AAR hood picture?

 Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Mark

The 6" is a bit too high for me. I am looking for something 1" or 2" higher then stock. I don't think they exist unfortunately. I think they only make stock or the crazy high ones :pullinghair: Thanks anyway though

Thanks I will give them a call and ask but I am sure they are going to charge a arm and a leg for a custom hood.

This is the size I would like but this completely custom which may be my only choice.

Yes, and Yes.

Of course, a sawzall, a quart of resin, some fiberglass cloth, and a couple of weekends could produce the same thing for less than $100.

Just a question on the AAR hoods, how much additional space do they offer over the standard Rallye Hood above the carb? is it next to no gain or a good inch or so?

I had VFN build the hood on my Duster ......of course it took a lot of extra work to fit like you see here.

I'd attempt to make my own before buying anything from Showcars. I had a bumper from them once. Biggest POS I've ever purchased in my life.

I live 30-40 minutes from them and I've never heard anything positive about their products.....

I had fiberglass rear fenders made by showcars for my dodge stepside.  The quality was good but the shape/contour was off from one side to the other so I would think again before buying anything from them unless I could first see it in person. :2cents:

Thanks for all the replies guys. I think I am just going to order a AAR hood and chop it up that way I can make it the way I want. I just feel kind of bad chopping up a perfectly good AAR hood.
