e-pay tranny
« on: June 27, 2005 - 03:48:32 PM »
Check out what I scored off of e-gouge for $50 (plus shipping)!  OD A-833 with shifter.  I owe Chryco a big thanks for the input and advice with my questions.   I hope that it didn't get too dinged up during shipping.  Now I just gotta start searching for the parts to make it all work.  Anyone have any luck with a hydraulic clutch release?  Or should I just stick with the fork?

It was shipped UPS for about $80.  At first the guy wanted to freight it to me and it was going to cost like $250.  I am glad that it worked out the way it did.  I got lucky on the auction price.  I still don't believe that I was the only person who put a bid on it.

is that an 18 spline or 23 spline?
If I had seen it you would not have been the only bid.
You got very lucky. If its an 18 spline you were doubly lucky.

I am now trying to find a small block bellhousing.  I think that Chryco said that the 5.12" bearing retainer can be machined down to 4.80."  Since the OD trans has the 5.12" bearing retainer and the 4.16" bolt pattern, can I only use a bellhousing with either the 4.80" or 5.12" bearing retainer size?  Will the bellhousing with the 4.35 bearing retainer not work because of the small 3.70" bolt pattern size?

true the early "small" 4.35 belhousing will not work unless you want to machine the hole out to 4.80 or 5.12 diameter

Will machining the 4.35 out to 5.12 weaken it too much?

How critical is the dimension when the bell housing gets machined out to 5.12“?  Is the bell supposed to be pressed on and then secured with the 4 bolts to the main body?  Or is it ok to go out to like 5.25” and give it some room?
