U joint girdles

I am shopping for new u joints (7260) and came across some U joint girdles that Moroso makes. It is supposed to be used in lieu of straps or u bolts. They look beefy but are they really necessary as the cost is the same as two u joints.

The straps & bolts never seem to be a weak / failure point

The only time I've seen girdles be of benefit is if your rear suspension is generating excessive lift at launch. They will help keep the caps on the joints in this case, but otherwise I can't say I've ever broken the stock straps.
