'70 CUDA Convertible
« on: January 18, 2017 - 09:23:12 PM »
Hello!  I'm Phil from the Pacific NW.  I'm 59 now and still playing with toys. I run a slot car restoration mail order site selling bumpers, glass, misc. parts and also complete slot cars. It's just my wife and I packing and shipping stuff.
I rec'd this classic 'cuda convertible last fall as sort of my B-day gift...to myself. :)

I'm new to the Chrysler game. I'm actually sort of a Camaro guy originally, but I had several and grew tired of them. Then, I did a couple of '65 Mustang Fastbacks and those were fun too, but again, I grew tired of them.  Incidentally, if you google "Best looking Mustang Ever" my black 'n red fastback will always show up as #1 or #2 and that is what I sold to help pay for the 'cuda.  I love all cars, but I always wanted a '70 Cuda convertible and this will probably be my last "fun car" so I recently acquired a long time California car that had no rust and never wrecked with all body VINs unmolested and matching. It is a Tor-red 318 BH car originally, but the longtime owner of 20+ years wanted a hemi in his car so it now has a '69 solid lifter dual quad 426 hemi, with a 727 auto w/Hughes, and 3.23 sure-grip. It is nicely optioned with pwr top, pwr steering, pwr disc brakes, console, ralleye gauges, rimblow, real mopar rubber bumpers, go-wing, and shaker. It is more than I was looking for but they are getting so hard to find and this car was in such nice condition compared to everything else I was finding that I had it brought here to WA. I usually keep my cars 4-8 years, so we'll see how this car stacks up to the rest.
 Havin' fun! Phil

Oops! I added the engine pic.  However, that monster shaker covers most of it.

Welcome to the site from  :canada:  That's a damn nice place to start in the Mopar end of the hobby! I was a slot car kid back in the day and still have my old Dynocan cars somewhere. They were a lot of fun.

Thanks!  Yeah, the original owner had the bottle cap Ralleyes on it, and I had him put the Magnum 500s on it and he kept the ralleyes.  The black in the wheels work so well with the black and orange.   It simplified the car's color combination to just 3 colors - black, orange and chrome, eliminating the 4th color...silver.  I'll be doing dark argent in the grill and rocker moldings.
