Hi all from So.Cal.
« on: January 20, 2017 - 11:02:19 PM »
Greetings Mopar afacianados, My registration on cc.com has been a long time comming. Two of your members have been working on me to sign up, but I guess I've just been dragging my feet, as usual. EC_CO and 67 vert man are those two friends. My claim to Mopar fame is my one and only 1970 Dodge Challenger powered by the venerable slant-6. Painted EK2 Go-mango, in SE trim w/ Black SE interior. Purchased in '73 as a trade-in from the local Dodge dealer for $1,100. w/ 40k on clock. 43 years later, 3 engines, 2 trannys, 2 rearends and 562k miles, I still own it. Pics can be found on cc.com's Forum, then to Classic Cudas and Challengers galore, to page 17, under 1970 challenger / 6. , 67 vert man took and posted these pics for me. A very early built LA car # 113 ( 8-18-69 ).Hope you guys like it. Any comments will be appreciated.

3 engines?  I thought Slants lived forever?  The slant in my old Challenger vert died too... Unlike you I added a couple extra cylinders... Slants are conversation starters but not much for mountain driving...

Wild R/T, even the slants die however I guess I'm a glutton for punishment and kept putting them in. Yes, you are right they are a conversation starter. At the shows and cruises I've been to, it never fails to draw a crowd with a lot of questions, however I do get one or two who say " have you ever thought of dropping a v8 in" I smile and say, " have considered, have considered " far as it got. I live in the flatlands not the mountains. I'm satisfied.

Sounds like an interesting car for sure.   I'm from SoCal as well but currently Uncle Sam has me in Washington DC ---   I always thought a /6 3 speed car would be awesome and different.

Ron! Hi there buddy,  Thanks for the warm welcome to cc.com. And a great BIG THANKS for reposting the link w/ the pics you took of the car for me. It will visually show how the car looks. They say, A picture is worth a thousand words. And a big hearty THANKS to all of the forum members who have welcomed me to the fold. I have been into Mopars since late 60's, but do not claim to be an expert. I certainly can learn much from the more knowledgeable forum members. I do have a lot of books and literature on Chryslers E-body cars 1970-1974, and I will crack these books for any info needed. It's not so bad owning a six cylinder Challenger, really. Asked about the "225 MAGNUM"engine call outs on the power bulge hood. Wanted to give the car a more aggressive look, so I picked up the OEM 70 hood, perfect condition for $55.00 ( 383 Magnum). No shams here, w/ hood closed, says 6-cylinder.
      Thanks,    Al

Sound Control, you asked on the "225 MAGNUM" hood call outs. When I put that hood on it, late 90's, just before it's last paint job. It said 383 Magnum, rummaging through a u-pick yard, I found a mid 60's Buick Electra 225. Pulled the emblems ( 225 ). Looked at the 225 along side Magnum, the rest is history. Because of the addition of the power bulge hood to the car, w/ hood up or hood closed no misgivings, it's still a slant-6
