Axle flange gasket
« on: January 26, 2017 - 03:48:39 PM »
My disc brakes will arrive this weekend and ready to put my 8-3/4 back together. I already have the axle gasket set from Dr. Diff. My question is the metal gasket that goes between the axle flange and the brake caliber bracket has an embossed face. Should the concave side of the gasket face the wheel hub or face the third member (looking at the flange) or it really does not matter. My old ones was compressed flat and worn so I cannot tell.

Found this post 16 and 17
http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/8-3-4-gasket-locations.262155/

Flat side with the concave side of the ridge goes against the housing, the ridge side was against the axle flange retainer! Again, more evidence!! The housing flange has radial grooves from the milling which were pressed into the metal gasket! If there was a paper gasket, it wasn't between the housing and the metal gasket! Geof

Thanks. Much easier if the factory stamp it on the gasket.

I am still confused. Post 32 of the second page said the opposite. I think I better write to Cass to make sure.

Ya that's probably best.
I was out and about on a Sunday, had a thought so I sent Cass an email from my phone, got a response in a couple of hours. Probably just luck, but he has answered all my other emails in good time! Great vendor!

Yes. He is quick. The answer is that he does it with the raised Ridge toward housing but he also said really does not matter.
