Hi everyone..

I bought a 73 "Cuda (BS23) 340/4spd car last Friday in Alabama and drive it back to Minnesota..

Few issues that I need to remedy..

1.     Seat belts..          It doesn't have any.      They failed to mention this when buying the car knowing I was driving it home.
It only had the headliner belts..      so I faked it..       Not the greatest feeling in the world..
Where would I get these?      I don't need a 100% factory correct repop...     I dont want to spend $400+ or anything like that..  :o

2.     Speedometer doesn't work..    owner said it bounced around so it was unhooked..
I'm thinking cable, but is there a method to diagnose what it needs for sure?

3.     Tachometer...     car doesn't have one.. never did..     I'm not sure if I want to just do the traditional tach on column or find a tach style cluster.
If I go the cluster route, is all the wiring behind the dash for it?/

4.     Stereo..       has an aftermarket cd player that doesn't quite work (scratchy)    it has a hoaky overlay of metal with tapping screws...    well, see picture..

5.     cup holder counsel?        my car is 4 on the floor...      no counsel with buckets.     is anyone running something with an arm rest between the seats with cup holders?       I'd love to see what you're runnin'

I dont know anything about this company but it may give you some price variables.

Congrats on the '73 and the drive home , I imagine that was probably an interesting drive.

I recently bought seat belts from XV racing. Very happy with their product and customer service.

I have a 73 BS23G 'Cuda as well....with the original seat belts.  My car is apart and if I can get my racing seat belts installed, then I'd be more than happy to sell you my old ones.  They aren't mint but they definitely aren't too beat up either.  :2thumbs:

I also have a 73 BS23 and have the same bouncing speedometer problem. I disconnected the back of the speedo and pulled the cable all the way out, greased with white lithium grease and reinstalled. Make sure their are no sharp turns that might bind then reconnect to the speedo and see if it works. Don't drive it very far if it's still bouncing because you will bend you needle. If that didn't fix it, it's probably the speedo which it turns out was my problem. So I pulled the dash cluster and removed the speedo, turned it by hand and sure as hell it was bouncing. I've sent it away to this place http://original.mrheaterbox.com/contact_us.htm  along with my clock to be repaired. I can't really recommend or not recommend them as I haven't gotten my items back yet but I have spoken with them on the phone and they seem knowledgeable and also said it would be a couple of weeks to complete. We will see..........good luck with everything and ..........."great car"

As for the radio it appears there's some trim missing...  Radio Bezel & Lower Dash Trim
That radio could work with the OE parts, most single din will

Congrats on buying a cool car. I get a lot of parts from Roseville Moparts. They are very knowledgeable and give a discount to C-C.com members. www.rosevillemoparts.com Ask for Dave or Jon.

I bought my Challenger 5 years ago and it was somewhat similar, lots of little things that could be improved but very driveable. Take your time and thoroughly research each item to be addressed. Unless you are very well versed in E bodies you will save yourself some time and money by doing so. Have fun driving it and making it better. The joy is in the journey.

1) Seat belts : I have the XV belts in my 74 and like them.
2 and 3) Speedo - Tach: Get a Rally dash rebuilt and put it in with new speedo cable. Easy to change over. there are posts here how to do it. Will need to run a tach wire from the coil to the dash.
