Ned help getting Dash off

I have a 1970 Barracuda, today I've been trying to get the dash pad off w/o success, so I started to take the entire dash out, I believe I have everything unscrewed and the dash is moveable but it gets hung up on the 2 bolts that hang down going to the steering column.

I've removed the steering column bracket and the column dropped a little, but the dash is still hung up on those 2 long bolts. What to do??

Whats more puzzling is that the gauges are hard to take off as well.

Does the entire dash need to be removed in order to get the pad and gauges off. Very Frustrating!!!!!

The entire dash frame does not have to be removed to get the gauges out. It doesn't necessarily have to come out to get the pad off, although it definitely helps.

In order to remove the dash frame, it helps to roll it forward away from the windshield (assuming you have the 2 7/16 bolts on the sides out). If it has never been removed, it might be a bit stubborn but it will come out (assuming everything is disconnected).

Yes the bolt on each side is removed. It seems that there is a plate between the dash frame and steering column at the area where the 2 long bolts stick through to hold the steering column.

You say rolling forward.... It appears that the frame has the 2 steering column bolts attached to it and in order to get he frame off the bolts have to be freed.

You say rolling forward.... It appears that the frame has the 2 steering column bolts attached to it and in order to get he frame off the bolts have to be freed.

Those long bolts are studs, if you use two nuts and lock them together you should be able to remove them by using a wrench on the upper one thus fixing this issue.

You need to remove the steering column studs or get the dash low enough to go around them. The dash frame goes around those two studs.

I leave the side bolts in loose and just let it pivot on them. Are you hanging up on any heat or vent ducts?

What I didn't see was the speed-o still hooked up. Just a rookie move. After I removed it, unpluged the wire harness at the firewall the dash frame came out.
