Look up Dr. Emmett Brown.. He was able to send Marty McFly back 30 years, that should work well for finding a painter who hasn't decided his work is priceless...

Sorry not meaning to be to much of a smart ass but paint & body work these days is outrageous... Expect a basic paint job with no body work to cost a minimum of 7K often closer to 10K... And if you have body work.....

I'm sure by now your thinking I'm very negative, not really, just honest.... These days I think you need a different hobby... This one use to be fun, now it's pretty aggravating...

To reinforce that point, I talked to a custom body shop this morning and a preliminary estimate (without seeing car in person, just various photos) is $10K-12K and that's with all major metal work complete. One other shop quoted somewhere between $20K-25K. Labor rates ranged between $60/hr-100/hr and material costs are also sky high. One shop said they typically spend $2K-$3K just on materials, but it will of course depend on the scope of the body work and paint job. Most of the shops will charge you on a time & material basis.  It is a bit unnerving.

Awesome project. I'm also new to doing my first build as well. Unlike you though my 71 Chally is an ugly (in my opinion) GY9 Dark Gold. So I'm putting a newer dodge color on mine. If mine was originally a more desired color like yours I would be doing the same thing as you. Sublime green an awesome color!

I agree with what is said above. Body and paint is extremely expensive. Luckily I have a friend doing it and he's charging me $7k for body and paint. However, to get that price I have had to be patient while others have paid him more to get the work done asap. I have more time than money, lol. So depending on how much body work is needed and how show quality you want the car it can get spendy.  I actually live on the other side of the state as you too, not that far away Spokane, WA.

In fact your car looks extremely familiar. Did you buy it from the tri-city area? I think I found that car for sale about 6 months/ a year after I bought mine which was around your area actually lol. Small world, cuz I would have bought that car if I hadn't have found my 71 first.
