Right now I have Magnum 14” wheels on the 1970 Challenger, drum brakes all around, power steering and manual brakes.
I'd like to upgrade to disc brakes on all wheels. Wilwood 11" disc brakes should clear the 14" wheels so that would be the easiest route.
My plan is to upgrade the wheels to:
Year One 17” Magnum wheels (front: 17x8" wheels, 245/45 tyres, back: 17x9" wheels, 275/40 tyres)
OR
15” Rallye or Magnum wheels (front: 15x7" wheels, 245/60 tyres, back: 15x8” wheels, 275/60 tyres)
Since I live in Croatia I will be doing a lot of driving on curvy roads, I won’t be doing any drag racing or autocross. Just Sunday driving for pleasure so my primary concern is low-end torque, good handling (probably I'll upgrade to Hothckis TVS) and good brakes.
The question is: are the 11" disc brakes enough? Or I need to step up to 12.19"?
If I want to go for bigger brakes that means I have to buy new wheels and tyres at the same time. A big investment to be made at once so I prefer to do it step by step. If I get the 11” disc brakes I can save money now and continue to drive on 14” wheels.
