New Guy here looking for advice!
« on: February 11, 2017 - 05:23:59 PM »
Hello everyone, I came across this 73 Barracuda with a 340 engine today and am in the process of contacting the owner to see if they would want to sell it. I was hoping to get a little insight on what would be a fair price to pay for it if they are interested in selling? Thanks for any help.  Kerry

Hagarty lists the value of a 73 Barracuda/Cuda as follows:

#1 Concours  $39,500
Condition #1 vehicles are the best in the world. The visual image is of the best vehicle, in the right colors, driving onto the lawn at the finest concours. Perfectly clean, the vehicle has been groomed down to the tire treads. Painted and chromed surfaces are mirror-like. Dust and dirt are banned, and materials used are correct and superbly fitted. The one word description for #1 vehicles is "concours."

#2 Excellent$33,600

#3 Good$24,000

#4 Fair$17,000

From the picture it looks like a Barracuda, not Cuda (emblem on back) Cuda model would have an edge on price.
A lot of factors to consider:

- Original 340 car and engine/drivetrain will raise the price
- Condition of the frame/floors, trunk etc  A lot of metal work will decrease the price
- Does the car run?
- Is it a 4 speed-that will increase the price
- A project can be bought for as low as 5K, a driveable car in need of restoration might go for the "Fair" price of 17K. The 17k would be on the very high end for a car in this visible condition.
From the pictures and without a lot of information, I would guesstimate the value at 7-12K if you could get the car running and streetable in a short amount of time.
Good luck with what you decide to do.

Welcome from Krazyfornia

Looks like it's going to take some bucks to fix this, if you want a project this looks like a good start. Just something to think about is sometimes your better off to buy the best car you can afford or want to spend, it can be ultimately cheaper in the long run, but it all depends on what you want. For a project car I like it because everything is there assembled.

As for price I would be checking eBay and see what cars sold for, also see what projects are going for.

Welcome to the site. If you are not up to speed on Mopars just be aware that they are very expensive to restore.

It's not a running or drivable car, it's been sitting in that spot for many years. It does seem to be  complete though.

I'm new to mopars but not old cars i have own a few stangs and just got a 74 cuda paid 5k for it and its just the shell but since I'm going to build a restomod the original drivetrain wasn't needed . It needs both quarters, trunk floor pans and driver side floor pan. http://m.ebay.com/itm/322397360903 That car looks alot better then mines so I'll say about 8k and up and if it's running with minimal body work 10k and up I think. Like they mopar more money literally lol

Best advice is find one that doesn't need restored for around $15-20 K .

That one by the time its restored will cost more than that!!   Unless your looking for a project and are going to do the work yourself for the fun of it.   Then $5-8K
