Remote Driver Mirror Routing - Pictures??
« on: February 11, 2017 - 06:42:20 PM »
I have been searching the site for some information on the routing for the remote mirror cables on the driver door.   I have tried numerous routes and the glass keeps hitting the cables.    If someone has pics of the connections points along the route, I am sure others would also benefit.   My car was partly disassembled when I purchased it including the mirror cables left inside the door.   The replacement cable is an aftermarket, so perhaps the cables are too short .... I hope not!   :swear:

A picture is worth a thousand words, but if it can be explained I will take whatever help I can get.

Thanks  ..... Chaps!!

There is a thin bracket about 6 to 8 long with a factory drilled hole which you bolt 2  the inside of your door it only has one short bolt and the mirror cables pass throw this hole and r keaped away from your glass . The bracked has a round edge at the top and then go changes shape at the bottom .Ifi find a picture or reference number i will post it  :aussie:

On my 74 there is a plastic loop that is attached to a part of the framework near the forward end of the door. The cable goes from the mirror, through that loop and back to the remote handle. This holds the cable forward of the window. Perhaps you are missing that plastic loop. I think you could duplicate it with a zip tie.

Thank you both for your feedback.    I am pretty sure that I have the metal plate with the large hole still on the door.    The plastic piece??   I will need to check for, but the zip tie plus the type that have the screw holder incorporated would be a good alternative if missing to attach it near the front.

Hopefully this resolves the mystery and I can get me door panel on for good and functional!!

Cheers!!
