74 Cuda worth??

Hello, can any one give me an idea on what to pay for a 74 Cuda without the motor or trans. The car was a 318 and the car itself doesn't look rusted out anywhere. Does need a paint job. He he previously Stated he wanted $12,000 for it.

Can't tell from the photos but that sounds about double what I would expect it's worth.

I agree for a shell and that year, that's way to high. The most desirable years imo are 70/71 for both challengers and cudas. If that car is completely rust free 6k is max I would pay. Is there interior with the car, and is it in good shape? Just to give you an idea I paid 6k for my 71 challenger shell in 2013. Prices might have gone up a bit since then but w/o pictures I'd only really want to pay 4-5k, 6k max. Good luck.

i have to respectfully disagree with the above posts...as someone that was looking for a driver quality 72-74 Cuda 4spd for the past month i will tell you that they have gone up dramatically.
You cannot find a restored driver 4spd for under 35k today.  That was the price for a nom 70 5yrs ago.  I sold my #'s match 4spd BS23H (pic in my avatar) for 29k 2yrs ago...today it's a $37k car.  Heck, even the less popular (IMHO) 72-74 Challengers are in the 32k range for restored drivers. Not hating on those that have them, just facts that the 72-74 chally's don't hold the same value as the 72-74 cudas.

I have to agree with djais. I paid 15K for a driver quality 74 Challenger in 2012. I could have driven it 14 hrs home. It was all there, looked good and ran great. There's no way in the world you could buy the same car now for that kind of money.

I will agree with the last two posters, if the car is really rust-free, or at least largely so. Make sure when you check it out that you look at the floors, trunk pans and frame extensions.

Reasonably nice '72-'74 Barracudas are selling over 30K on Eblah lately.  Of course, Eflay sometimes has an element of BS and the cars don't really sell for what they post.

Needs engine, trans, paint and I bet a bunch more. Go for it I guess, 318 car too. I wouldn't touch it.

E body cars have gotten very expensive to get into lately. The only way I'd pay 12k would be if the car was absolutely complete minus the engine and trans AND was nearly rust free. You can drive yourself crazy and go broke replacing all the little things that sometimes are missing from roller projects.

I recently got 12k for a bondo filled (and disclosed), partially complete, non-running 73 318 chally, if it's rust free, I'd say it would be worth it

Just got home from a big show in so cal. Not much in Mopars but I found a 73 Challenger which was similar to what you're looking at. The one I found was rust free and all in primer ready for final body work and paint. It was mostly complete minus the engine and trans. The guy was asking $8700. This is a show known for dreamers asking prices too high.
