Does the gauge cycle when you turn the car on?
I actually have my guage grounded with the rest of the guages.

Are you still using the old Mopar sending unit? Yes, the tank should be grounded, but then a strap should run from the solid fuel line to the pick-up tube to ground that too. Is your gauge compatible with your sending unit? If you are using the Mopar unit, then 70 ohms or so is what you want in a gauge.

I wired up the autometer gauge..it says run the sender wire right to the sender on tank.....ran the ground wire from the gauge to the tank and wired a ground wire from tank to chassis.......seem right....cant be cause the gauge isnt reading...but autometer had me do a test on the gauge and the gauge does work,,,,,,it is a quanta factory replacement gas tank....???

OK 8 PACK,
That sounds good, but there is a rubber gasket keeping the sending unit isolated from ground. The tank may be grounded, but not the sending unit. The pick-up tube that the rubber hose connects to, should be grounded also. There is a metal strap that clamps onto the pick-up tube and clamps onto the solid fuel line too, thus connecting the sending unit to ground. Is that metal strap there? I can send you a picture if you need to know what I'm talking about.

OK,
Here's the picture. Notice the metal strap in front of, and behind the rubber hose. That's what grounds the sending unit.

8 PACK,
Let's try an experiment. Do as I did in this picture. Take the wire off the sending unit, and ground it. This should make your gas gauge read full.

8 PACK,
I never messed with this after-market stuff, so I find it interesting that they want the gauge grounded back at the gas tank. :???: That would have to be where the braided line connects to the sending unit pick-up tube. Is this sending unit, the standard Mopar sending unit? I need to know if your gauge matches the 70 ohm Mopar sending unit, if that's what you are using. See, if this gauge is matched to a sending unit with a much higher resistance value, then you will never read anything either. I see your are in Pa. What part? Maybe I can look at this for you.
