Inspection Cover
« on: June 29, 2005 - 12:25:57 PM »
I need to get the inspection cover that bolts up and covers the pressureplate/clutch assembly on the under side of the car. Year One has one part description of 'fits 1970-74 B/RB engines with 10.5" bolt pattern". And the other part description "fits 1967-78 small block engines". I have a 74 challenger w/ 360ci. Common sense would tell me that I need the 70-74 small block version but because I don't know what B/RB means (big block maybe) I thought I should ask you fellers. Guess if the holes had to be opened up abit to align with the holes in the tranny and engine it wouldn't be so bad. But if there were any other mechanical interferences then that would not be good.
Thanks

the belhousings are different between small & big blocks , the B/ RB are big block , you need the A engine cover , you should know that the Year one covers are only plastic not steel liek the originals were, the small block covers may be steel though

I am in a similar situation and was hoping someone could shed some light on it. I have a '71 `Cuda with a 440. The car originally came with a 340. Any idea if I need a 10.5" bolt pattern or an 11" bolt pattern model? Thanks for any help on this.

it depends what belhousing was used , if you have the 69 & earlier cast belhousing & the 143 tooth flywheel [11"] or the later alum bel & the 130 tooth flywheel [10.5/10.95"]

the rb stands for  " RAISED BLOCK"   ie; a slightly higher deck height ( short block" on 383 & 440magnum engines.
