Last year I was in my Road Runner driving back from a wedding 3 hours away, when I noticed a bunch of oil smoke trailing behind me on the highway. I pulled over and checked the stick, it was bone dry. A valve cover gasket had failed, leaking oil onto the manifold, and I didn't have enough tools to fix it. It was late, and the only place close by that was still open was a Dollar General that surprisingly had some cheap motoroil on the shelf.
2 quarts of the cheap stuff went in, mixing with the VR1 oil. Before I made it home, another 1 and a half went in. The engine parts, cam, and lifters didn't care. The car ran the same and the mixed oil is still in there.
Stroker RB with solid flat tappet lifters and springs with 377lbs open pressure. If the engine didn't cost so much I'd probably just switch to the cheap stuff completely.
