Going to See a 1973 Cuda, Fender Tag is missing- Help

Going to See a 1973 Cuda, Fender Tag is missing. How does this effect the car's value? (If I buy it, I may sell it on if a better Cuda comes along...)

I'm new to this, the VIN decoder shows 1973
Model "Cuda"
Price Style "Special"
Engine 340 4 barrel 8 cylinder

What does "Special" really mean ?

Special may mean the upgrade on the engine from the 318 to the 340 . . .

In 73 there shouldn't be any "S" in the second location, that ended in 72....

Plain as day theres a "S" in 2nd digit.

BH means Barracuda BS means 'Cuda that is the difference in the two. BP is Grand Coupe

In 73 S was definitely gone from the Challenger line-up, maybe not on the Barracuda....

S went all the way through to 74 on the Barracuda P ended after 71

Still sounds like a great car, especially if it's original 340 is still there. I wouldn't let the lack of fender tag scare you off unless the guy wanted top dollar. If it really means a lot to you, you can have another tag made for $150.

Without the fender tag or build sheet its a total guess as to what the car came with.

If you don't have the build sheet I would skip on the fender tag reproduction, if you ever decide to sell it that turns off a lot of buyers because you can't prove what is on that. Personally, if the deal was right, I wouldn't care. Mine had a pile of the build sheet that the mice left, but luckily the fender tag, not that it really mattered much.

Seller wants $23K. I don't know what a 8 3/4 post rear is...

The seller's copy reads:

I really want a 1970 but this might be my entry into the e-body for now.

An 8 3/4 rear end is a good strong rear end. As far as the price, it's hard for me to judge as I don't know the 72-74 market as well as the 70-71. If it was in nice condition, I would think that's about the right price. What is the color and is the engine the original? That would play into the decision for me. For 23k, I would expect it to be in decent drivable.

It's been my experience that when someone puts a price followed by "best offer" that means they will take less given the right set of circumstances. By right, I mean cash in hand. Doesn't work so well if you have to arrange payment while his phone is ringing off the hook with other buyers.

He says engine and drive train are original. The Car is Red with a black stripe down the entire car, not the hockey stick (which I like better...) Steve

I would verify both the engine and tranny match the VIN for that price without fender tag...
