Will do, but what about the coolant around the intake openings Bob? Could think a possible cause for the coolant to be there?

crack in heads?
Porting might break into a coolant passage?
if surfaces flat, gaskets good, and bolts properly torques, should be fine.
dirt/water in a bolt hole can crack a head or block, when the bolt is torqued down.
make sure good bolts, and bolt holes clean and threaded

Pressure test the system after you reinstall the heads. The intake doesn't have to be on since no water goes through it. Look for any coolant leaks in the ports. Make sure it holds pressure.

I'm reassembling the 440 now, it seems that the previous gasket needed retorque because the down bolts were not too tight although i torqued them in correct sequence (Permatorque Fel-Pro). Anyway, i tried to take the opportunity to adjust the valves and when i took off the other valve cover, i found this...  It's seems to be water residue mixed with oil, but it's upper side, is it possible to be cracks? There seems to be alot of them (three).

has the motor been sitting with hot cold temp swings ? It could just be mosture in the air

Yes, Chryco although it's not in the outside there has been a lot of temp swings recently.

OK, everything ready, head gasket changed, head resurfaced, block deck cleaned, ARP bolts in head torqued to their specs with their lube,  fired the engine and guess what, now coolant is leaking like crazy  :pullinghair:  :villagers:  :crying:  The leak is throughout the HEAD bolt next to spark plug cylinder number 3.

And now thinking that this problem could be all along, I feel like an ##s. Scary stuff though, just turning the electric water pump, the leaking occurs....

No, topfuel you said it, my fault I didn't do it, I tested the engine with pressure tester, coolant coming out of the fourth head bolt (outside bolts from left to right) and coming from  a crack in cylinder 5 exhaust port where it touches the exhaust flange. The crack isn't visible due to burn residues.

Did you say heads were fresh? I believe I would send them out and fav them checked not looking to good on that gasket for being fairly new

Pulled them out yesterday, cleaned them, results, 3 inch crack below 3 and 5 cylinder exhaust ports (common crack as i searched the web), big crack inside exhaust runner cyl 3, huge crack inside exhaust runner cyl 5 (the valey pan i had, was letting exhaust gases inside intake causing it to have a lot of coolant inside the warm up port and eventually thrushing the gasket and letting some coolant get past). As it seems the leak was small in the beginning and it progressed as time flew by. The 3 inch crack was letting water out just as i turned on the electric water pump and the coolant seeped on the head bolts which seemed to me as it was coming out of them (checked the block threads with a small LED camera, everything OK).  Wrong of me not to test the heads the first time i took them out.

Yes 906 heads, i'm searching EBay now for a single 906 head. Due to huge amount of shipping (200$ to Europe) i'm searching everything cheap enough, i even went on to search for 452 or 346 heads (that desperate), but i don't know if i can use the 1.74 inch exhaust valve or if it's prudent to have two different head castings in the same block. Still haven't found anything good enough.
