dash light bar correct for rallye dash?
« on: March 29, 2017 - 11:17:02 AM »
I have seen two different versions of light bar assemblies, one with 3 lights and three lens, and another with 4 lights and 4 lens, which is correct for 71 cuda rallye dash, would either fit and function on non-rallye or rallye dash setup?

unfortunately I was sold one and was told its for a rallye dash, but it has 3 lights.... now that I have it restored and ready to go in, I am questioning it.

okay, thanks.
I just might add another or two lights, if too dark.

how about lens color, mine (non rallye) have a blue, but notice most rallye have green lens. what's the correct color?
did they change every few years or were they always the same, depending on rallye or not.

The 4 light bar is a lot better on the rally dash. But the three light  will get you by . But you'll like it better if you find one.

The lenses are blue but when light shines through them, it shows up green on the gauges.  If you used a more "white" bulb instead of a "yellowish" white bulb, my guess is the gauges would look blue.

Using these green LEDs instead of the standard bulbs with the factory blue lens looks great and you can still adjust the brightness.

And I use these with the lens & it's way brighter than it needs to be....  Thankfully the dimmer still works..

I used the same bulb as racer57 and they work great and like 1 wild R/T says, the dimmer works. This is what it looks like with the LEDs

The LEDs can be a little tight going into the holes. They will fit though. Also, do not twist them any harder than needed. The LED portion isn't as secured to the base as a regular bulb is.

I made it sound worse than it is. :D  Keep in mind that your existing light sockets are old and probably have a little corrosion on them. Use Dielectric grease on them and there will not be any issues.
