Fuel sending unit question
« on: March 30, 2017 - 11:01:09 AM »
I was attempting to remove my fuel sending unit to adjust the float for a more accurate gauge reading. I was unable to completely remove it from the tank partly because of the 3" exhaust pipe but mainly because I got scared when the white fuel pickup filter screen, sock was sliding down on the metal pickup tube. I did not want it to come off in the tank. Are the screens suppose to slide on the tube? Is there some sort of "stop" to keep them from falling off of the end of the tube?

It's supposed to be a tight fit, I haven't used one in 30 years, they cause more problems than they fix... If it falls in the tank it won't hurt anything, when they plug I use to use compressed air to blow it off into the tank & left it floating, never a problem....  I want my filter outside the tank when it can be serviced...

Thank you. I guess I got over-stressed for nothing!
