I'm not sure what you don't like about it.  It is plastic and I didn't like that part, but QUAPMAN on Ebodies.com makes them (AUTOGRIP).  He offers them with quite a variety of top plates.  Here is mine with CUDA on top.

A bunch of years ago I made a shifter from aluminum that looked exactly like a 4 speed pistol grip shifter. I even used original grips and engraved HURST on the sides. In place of the shift pattern on top I engraved CUDA. It worked great but it was complicated to make (easy for me since I'm a machinist) and required an original shift mechanism to be modified. It also looked the most like a factory installed shifter than any I've seen. I only had it on a couple of years. To tell you the truth, and this is only my two cents, if it's an automatic it should stay looking like an automatic and not like you want it to look like it's something it's not. If you want a 4 speed it's easier than you think to change the car over. Which is what I did. You won't be sorry. Everything is bolt on.

I basically traced the metal shifter or trace the plastic handles.  cut it out with a hand held saber saw, a two inch sanding drum on my drill press, and A LOT of hand sanding. and clear lacquer.  The screws are stainless wood screws to " match" factory screws that  I cut down.  A lot  of "well I can make this better" and different stains. So I have a few sets.  And oak is a very hard wood to sand, but well worth it.

Rick, I ordered the Auto-Grip pistol grip shifter for my 73 Challenger from a member here who is mentioned above. It arrived last week in a matter of days. I am very happy with the way it looks and feels. Eventually I will get around to making grips out of solid Turkish walnut for it.

I just installed a Hurst pistol grip I purchased from Restoricks.
It is for a1970 Cuda automatic trans.
The 1970 are different from the 1971 shifter.
Gunslinger sells one but it is straight up.......$187.
Ricks is like the original Hurst at an angle. $239.
I keep reading on cc.c Rick no longer sell them .
Well maybe do some web searching and you can find what you want.
If you purchase one remove the console before installing it.  You may need to file the shifter shaft for the inner sleeve to fit.

I called him for info...........

I like your 8-tracks in the carry case.  I didn't see included the mandatory folded up business card needed to wedge into the side of the player/cartridge.  Oldfarts like me will know what that is about.
