I'd also contact the manufacturer of your heads
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

For aluminum heads generally a MLS gasket is used:

Well here is the problem. I got these head gaskets and put the whole engine together. I was going to start it up and break in the cam this week end. But the more i read online the more i think these gaskets are not compatible with aluminum heads. The only people i can find that have used these cover them in copper coating which i did not do. I don't know if i should try them out or play it safe and replace them with aluminum rated gaskets.

Years back, I ran a set of Fel pros on a new set of aluminum heads on a freshly decked block. It worked great for a bit but then the car sat for a couple years in the body shop. When I fired it up, the gaskets failed. I'll never know if it was a gasket issue or just corrosion and bad luck from sitting too long. Now that I'm reading what others say about special gaskets for aluminum heads, I can't help but wonder if they were going to fail at some point whether it sat or not.

Changing them out 1000 miles later in the car really sucks. If in doubt, I'd do it now while the motor is out and it's nice and clean and not filled with coolant. Just my two cents

FEL-PRO 1009 for the BB engines.... I used to be a Fel-Pro engineer... best gaskets out there!    The later Fel-Pro race gaskets  (from ~15 years ago) had the internal wire ring pre-flattened to not impress into the alumnum castings..... actually if/when it did, it sealed combustion better.   I've run the Fel-Pro race head gaskets (1008 SB) forever without any problems... 25+ years on a recent race 340 engine... came off looking like new!

RMS ... those steel embossed head gaskets will cause brinelling into the alumnum castings.... will likely seal but will indent into the alumnum.   Steel head gaskets like that all require sealer (spray shellac, etc) for fluid sealing assistance.   The embossing seals around the coolant and compression areas..... but, steel head gaskets do eventually rust through at the restricting areas... then comes over heating.

I use these cometic gaskets. From the research I did, they were the most highly recommended.

I agree on the Cometic and also agree best bet to contact cylinder head manufacturer also remember the aluminum heads on iron block will generate electrolysis

Problem with MLS head gaskets (regardless of mfgr) is that they mandate an ultra-smooth surface finish (head AND block) which most machine shops cannot or will not provide... then coolant leakage eventually occurs.

I always use Cometic MLS the more durastic the temp swings are where you live the faster the non MLS will fail from the different contraction & expansion rates , here I used to live you could see anywhere between + 90*F  - 78* F  this would tear up composition gaskets , the factories all use MLS with iron block / alum head combos
