Value Breakdown????????????

Hi .
I just bought a 1971 340 Cuda 4 speed car .The car came with Billboards I know this was a pretty rare option on a car . As to the Value of the car what difference does it make .
Also when it comes to colors  how does this affect it's value ?Anyone have a breakdown of the most sought after colors? I Know the  the wild colors are rare but Im wondering when push come to shove if someone has the chance to buy a Black car or a Sassy green wich one would they pick?
I know this subject must have come up before but either Im to stupid to find it or I just don't know how to word it  ..

Generally speaking, a car gets more $ if painted original, optioned original. The guys that lay down big $ are usually looking for originality/numbers.

Well my car is a factory V6W ,GB5, BS CUDA  340 4 speed and as far as I know it is completely numbers  matching except for the engine .It has a  Galen report if that means anything

That would mean it is no longer a numbers car. But IMO, still worth keeping the original BB's/paint colour on it if you are concerned about resale value.
Or you can look at things like I do. I don't care about resale, I'm likely to die with the Challenger in my garage, sooo, I change whatever I like, however I want it. Granted it is easier for me to have this point of view...I don't have a '71 340, 4sp cuda.

You know I really don't care to much for originality either , As I get older I like the outward appearance of a stock looking car but don't really care if it has the correct hose clamp color for that month it was built in .I have to admit Im a very bless guy and am able to own quite a few cars But have shied away form Mopar because the Mopar guys are so critical about originality .I've seen guys walk up to a very nice  Mopar and go  right to the fender tag and shake there heads and walk away muttering something about "that car never  came with 16" black battery cable".Its very weird..Its just my opinion and means not all that much

It all breaks down to; value is what someone is willing to pay for the car at that time. Right time, right place, right person=big bucks. Enjoy what you have and be proud of it.

Your 340 71 Cuda sounds like a great car. Were you thinking of changing colors? Not really a good idea with a B5 Cuda. I think B5 is a neutral color in terms of value influence, neither increasing nor decreasing value. I believe colors such as black, Curious Yellow, Sassy Grass, Tor Red tend to add appeal and therefore increase a car's value. The earth tone Browns, greens, tend to be less appealing and can turn off some potential buyers and thus have a negative impact on a car's value.
My opinion cannot however, take into account those people who like the less appealing colors who might shun the Hi Impact colors. I personally like FK5, but I would not pay a premium for a Cuda that color as I know the market does not put a Premium value on this color.

I was not thinking about a change in the color I like the color of the car and the paint is near perfect .I agree  that it is always better to stick with what the car was built with. I build and sell /trade a lot of cars Im not a dealer ,for me the fun is in the chase not the end I like to know I did the car wright and never take half measures  .I  will lose money if I see something I like.But being new in the weird world of Mopar ( this comes from a guy with 3 C1 and C2  Corvettes) .Im trying to understand the Market for these things .

I would disagree slightly with Rick, in that I think that B5 tends to be a bit of a premium in terms of desirability.  Most of the potential buyers will put a premium on the high impact colors.  And a number of potential buyers will go gaga borderline stupid chasing factory black cars.
I have a FK5 burnt orange and a FK6 "rootbeer" car in my little E body fleet, so I know all too well that colors like those 2 decrease interest among buyers.  My best car friend has a GA4 gunmetal gray 71 Challenger vert, and I park my FK5 Challenger vert next to him at a number of cruises every season.  And at least once a year without fail, when we are sitting there behind our cars, someone will walk up and ask my friend if he wants to sell his car.  I can't remember the last time someone asked me if I had any interest in selling mine, over 5 years at least.  I've been trying to sell my GK6 car and have all but given up, I'm about to buy a 4 post lift for my garage so I can bring it home from storage.  Screw you guys it's coming home (I'm saying that in my best "Cartman voice"  ).
People get overly hung up on the whole #'s thing IMHO.  2 of my cars are not #s and I take my cars out to events all time.  I've yet to ever once find anyone at a show crawling under my car looking to see if the numbers on the engine match the VIN.  And I've yet to notice that my #s cars drive any different than my non numbers cars.  Yet the market puts a lot of value on #s, so its like the stock market, the trend is your friend, so even if it seems dumb, it is what it is, and it ain't going to change.
As a lifelong rustbelt resident, I put original sheetmetal well above color and #s in my wanna have list, but that's just me.
Next time I have space for another car, I want a light green metallic with white top and interior Challenger vert or 69 Coronet R/T vert.  I do recognize though, if I accomplish that dream, I better plan on owning it until I take my dirt nap, as no one will ever want to buy it from me!  My garage is a little bit of a island of unwanted toys, but I like to be different and that is fine with me!
Congrats on the B5 71 cuda, the market loves '71 cudas and loves 4 speeds, so if you do decide to sell someday, I doubt you'll have too much trouble finding interested buyers, even with that NOM thing the silly market is overly concerned with.

Probably spend more than that to fully restore the car to that value level.

There is some text at that link that eludes to the fact that color, trans, etc may improve value and sale-ability.
