Need help. Aussie Mopar project, non E-body
« on: April 08, 2017 - 12:39:09 PM »
Working on a 73 Aussie charger R/T. (318) Is this car similar to a A body? Is there anything strange about these cars that I should know?
It has a few electrical issues and I could really use a wiring diagram!
If anyone has a diagram or any advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

Wow that would be a tough one for us to answer.
I would vote it is not an A body platform. Would start with the B platform and go from there. With the rh drive I would emagine all wiring would be different anyway.

Good luck

Nature will take care of the rest.

Thanks for the information guys! The wiring on this car has some similarities to what we have hear but not a lot. I have wiring diagrams for A,B & E bodies but they are nowhere near what this car is. There is no bulkhead connectors. The harness goes through the firewall through grommets.
This car is a piece of work. There is 3 toggle switches and 1 push button next to the ignition switch. One of the switches operates the starter but so does the key. There is another one for the blower motor. The push button was for the horn. The 3rd toggle had a wire coming from the battery and the other wire was cut off and was taped in the harness. The wipers work only when the key is off. I remover the switches and found many wires that were spliced several times with different size and color wires that we just twisted together then wrapped in the harness. Found many burnt wires. I'm surprised this car didn't burn to the ground! One of the pictures attaches is what wires I removed that were connected to the switches.
This will be a challenge but that's the fun part of this hobby.
I found a simple harness diagram on facebook and have a request to Jeff for additional information. I'll keep everyone informed what's going on with this project.

Thanks for Jeff's contact information!  He sent me a picture of this car sitting in his driveway. He owned it for about 10 years! He's going to try to scan the wiring diagram for me.
