dash or glove box

Hi  I would like to put a radio in my cuda . But do like the look of the 8 track that it has now . So do i put it in the glove department or remove the 8 track  ? The dash and radio that i have r in very good condition .  I guess my question is has any one left there dash the way it is ,and used the glove department ? And do they work well inside the glove box ?  As we call it down here in oz  Could some one post any pics Thank you.

Back in my younger days I always put the radio in the glove box in fear that someone would see my pioneer super tuner and steal it. Now they steal the whole car and leave the radio!

I use a thin piece of plywood between the glove box door and the top of the heater for a shelf, instead  of the cardboard box. It's got a noise filter, EQ and CB AMP. I put a (in 1978) cassette in the dash in the hole for air conditioners vents above the ash tray. My dash was cracked so why not, and use a dash cover. Add the glove box light too. The center speaker is for the CB. It has the factory stereo speaker covers with new parts; it took some vice grips to rip some dash metal to fit 3", but it looks stock. Back deck is factory wiring with Pioneers and top covers. I also cover the speaker cones with fabric for a longer life.

They also make one with a wireless controller but I didn't want to deal with charging it. Put the control at the base of the shifter.

Why not eliminate all that & just hook your iPod/Iphone/Android up with a bluetooth interface?

I ordered this radio. It's expensive but solves all of my concerns. I want new guts with a factory look.

Bluetooth works for what I need. I figure any reasonable radio is $200, so it's a $365 premium to have the factory look, it's worth it to me.

I got one of the upgraded stock looking units. Not cheap... then I routed the aux cable for an IPOD/iPhone around the back through the back of the ashtray so I can hook it up and keep the phone In there. You'd never know it wasn't original.

Our Gran Coupe has original 8 track.
I installed a small compact am fm CD player in glove box,
There are new HD radios that play commercial free music.
Crutchfield sell them.
My 2015 Tahoe has the HD radio and dam Sirius radio keeps bugging me to sign up and pay a monthly fee screw them.
 Between DC and Baltimore there are a lot of FM stations.  Over the years of traveling noticed not many cities have few FM stations.

I was looking at that one...but wanted the USB port also. That way you can use a flash drive to play your music and not worry about keeping another device powered or charged.

I did a nice system in my old Super Bee. Really planned it all out and spared no expense. It was fantastic. Problem was I found myself rarely using it. I came to realize I preferred to listen to the car instead. Partly because it sounded so sweet and partly because I could detect things that didn't sound right and fix them before they became big issues.

On my current project, I'm thinking radio delete with no antenna for a sleeker look.

If you do it though, I'd bite the bullet on cost and go with latest technology and try to make it fit in the dash if you can do it without cutting.

Not quite as original looking as the other one, but less than half the price and comes with a USB port. Bluetooth options as well for a little more money. Fits in the stock location.

Back before USB . .  I had my receiver in the normal spot with a 12 disk changer in the glove box, then the amp in the trunk . . . Now just have a receiver with blue tooth and USB . . . Love it.  But then again, I am not looking for the stock either . .
