The correct door shell?

I am told there are some differences between Cuda door shells from year to year, something about the window opening and maybe the inner skin hole drilling?
Can anyone verify that, and if so tell me if this shell is correct for a '72?

The only things I can think of for the doors is that (1) the window fuzzies (cat whiskers) attach differently on the '70 than on the '71-'74.  The '70 has elongated slots where the others are round holes.  Also (2) the belt molding (shiny aluminum trim on top of the door) attaches differently on the '70 compared to the others.  There might be a bracket that holds the mirror cable away from the window. I don't remember which year.  Anyway, you can use any door with any year with a few very small mods.

I think 73-74's have side impact bars on the inside ?

All E bodies have that. Govment mandatory from 1970 on

The door pictured is an updated version, came out mid year of 71, not sure exactly when. Early 71's had 70 style doors until the new ones were introduced.  Regulators made for the pictured door will fit the early doors, but--- the 70 and early 71's regulators will only fit the later doors IF, the extra section of gear teeth are cut off. The early style will not roll up and down properly, but like said, they will work if the section of the gear is trimmed down.

Found this out when I sold a regulator to a member here. He was looking for one for his 71 and I had one from a 71. Mine was an early one, his was a later one. He was able to trim it down and it worked fine. He tried to find a later one versus cutting up the harder one to find, but no takers. I even told him I would take it back, but he was fine with it and trimmed it and works perfect. Hope this helps some.  :cheers:

Ah haaaa, so that is what they meant by "different"  :)   This door should be fine for a '72 then, without any modifications; thanks for clearing that up  :2thumbs:
