Those with TTI Exhaust Experience - Please Enter

All,

I am reaching a point where I am getting more serious about sourcing my exhaust system. I would like to have it in place for firing the engine for the first time and for routing my fuel system [to ensure adequate clearance]. In the meantime, I have a few questions:

  • Does anyone have a TTI dealer they recommend for lowest pricing?
  • Does anyone know of top/bottom view drawings for the various TTI exhaust configurations?
    • -They list X and H pipe, with my T56 Magnum being as large as it is, I would like to evaluation how far aft each of those crossovers are to determine   
      clearance. They also have a Gear Vendors option, which may be more like what my T56 is dimensionally [somewhat]
  • Are there any inherent issues with routing 3.0" tubing to the rear valance on these cars?
    • 2.5" vs 3.0" - From a performance aspect, I expect 2.5" to be sufficient, but would like to vet out using 3.0".
  • Are there any other details that I should be aware of when buying an exhaust?
    • My car is originally a single-exhaust Barracuda that now has a 'Cuda rear valance, perhaps there are some hanger differences I should know about.
  • I am planning on buying their exhaust without mufflers.
    • What did you do? How do their mufflers sound on your car?
    • If you bought your own, what did you use?

I bought a TTI system for my 70 Superbee and was very happy. They kill you on the price but it's a very nice product. Fits great.

I went with the 3" system using their mufflers (I think they were Dynamax?) and my car was a 383. It sounded mean but didn't drone out too much on the highway. With your much larger engine, I'd think it will do well with the bigger pipes as long as they fit. Hopefully someone here has used this in their E body.

I bought mine from TTI directly. I didn't know they sold to other distributors.

I thought TTI was one of the products ,like Stihl, that is the same price wherever you buy, that possibly shipping or particular dealer vendor would influence buying source.

Bought mine from Mancini if I remember correctly. I have TTI full exhaust on both of my cars, headers back to the stainless tips with the Dynomax mufflers.
The Dynomax mufflers TTI supplies sound good with headers but have a lot of drone with factory manifolds.
I also have both the "X" and "H" pipe that I have used and both fit without issues. I also have their Gear Vendors "H" pipe and there again no issues with clearance.
Only modification I did to the system was to install a set of collectors at the mufflers so I could by removing the 12 bolts drop either the "H" or "X" pipe out if I ever need to remove the transmission.

I have a 3" system with x-pipe on my 440 cuda.  It was tight getting the motor in from the bottom.  I had to loosen the passenger header, set the k-frame, and then retighten the header.  Drivers side was fine.  The x-pipe clears my 4l60e auto trans without a problem.  I have no clearance issues over the axle.  My chassis was originally a small block with single exhaust.  I had to source another hanger mount  on the drivers side infront of the axle.  That just tack welds into place.  I thought I was going to save a few bucks and use somebody else's exhaust tips that were cheaper.  They won't fit.  You have to use TTi's exhaust tips.  They look alright and fit nice.  My system fits nice.  I did have to hammer some clearance at the idler arm so the zerk wouldn't rub.  I also had to clearance the drivers side where it comes too close to my oversized torsion bar so the motor can move a little bit.  No issues in the past couple thousand miles.  I re-torqued the manifold to head bolts after a few heat cycles.  I also re-torqued the collector bolts after some heat cycles to prevent future leaks.  No leaks, no rattles, and no issues at this point.  They are very solid and kind of heavy.  I can't imagine this system will save you any weight over a stock system. Even with cast manifolds.  As far as mufflers go, I got the longest ones that I could get from TTi so they wouldn't be too loud with the 3" pipes.  I love the sound of mine.  Not too loud for cruising.  Not too loud when I mash then pedal, but still sounds pretty "healthy".  You can hear the air moving easily through these pipes.

I have the 3" xpipe with the super turbo mufflers. Sounds great, has a deep rumble. It fit well but I had to cut and reweld the rear exhaust hangers to get the tips perfectly centered, but I'm pretty anal retentive.

I bought mine from Bob Mazzolini in Southern California for a small block Challenger about 10 years back, I was at his factory and he had most variations in stock back then and his price beat all the others I had check out.
I back then came over at least once a year and cruised around many states picking up parts as required usually direct.
I have bought parts from various companies and had the parts delivered to my exporter I used and freight was usually negotiable. I am not sure now but back then if taking parts interstate the seller often dropped the state taxes.   :2cents:
