Painting leaf spring brackets
« on: May 04, 2017 - 01:12:07 PM »
Can anyone tell me how the leaf spring brackets (front) were finished, were they mounted on the cars, primed and painted with the body, or painted separately and mounted later, or left bare metal?

Thank you.  So then were they installed on the car, already attached to springs, after the body was painted? :working:

Thanks!  I just want to get it right the first time.  So the front and rear suspensions were joined withe the body after painting?

The engine/trans/K-member as well as the rear end/springs/exhaust, were all assembled on a large jig.  The car bodies were moving along up in the air.  The bodies were then lowered over the top of the jig.  The factory called this process "body drop".  Have a look at these pictures of the "body drop" faze.  Have a really good look.  There are a lot of good details.
