New to me RT Classic - what should I know?
« on: May 07, 2017 - 11:01:48 PM »
I picked up a 2012 RT Classic a couple weeks ago. Is there anything I should know about quirks, etc. with the car.

Check to see if the timing guide/chain has been done or if the car falls under the recall.

I have had my 2012 for 4 years  bought it with 25k miles and love the car, I use it as my daily 100 miles a day average, very nice cars, and also consider a tune like a Diablo tuner ,lots of mods,I also installed a back up camera as they are hard to see out the back so the camera is a must for me,cant really say anything bad about the car.

Now that is one sweeeet ride there!   :naughty:

You didn't mention what transmission, but if it's an auto, then you will have MDS that shuts down half of your engine once you are at cruising speed. You will then get fantastic gas mileage.

Drewcane, just had the timing chain guide recall done today. It already had the airbag recall done. Car only has 25.5K km on it. About 16.5K miles. I agree about not seeing out the back, it's terrible backing out of angle parking. Is your camera a dealer installed option? This will be an occasional, sunny day driver and long trip car.

MEK, it is an auto. Only burned half a tank so far. Getting about 19 miles per US gallon just running around and punching it now and then.

Here's something I felt kinda dumb when I discovered it.... mine has Telescopic steering column..
Had it 6-months before I discovered it... oh what a difference that made.  :woo:

Thanks Wade. I hadn't found that yet.

On the phone connectivity, I've received an incoming call but how do make a call out? Do you have to dial it on the phone first?

Telescopic column works when the tilt lever is used, just pull out or push in on the wheel.

To make a hands free call: Push the face talking button on the steering wheel or radio to activate VR, voice recognition
Push the phone button on steering wheel or radio to activate phone, you will be given a list of options.
To call say "call"  a list will be given one being name, say the persons name you want to call that is in your phones contacts list. (there's also a way to speak a number I've never used) If the phone isn't sure it may give you a numbered list to chose from so at that point you speak the corresponding number.
The radio will ask to confirm so you say "yes" if it's correct & the call is put through.

I have a 2013 with Navigation, I would imagine all models work similarly
