ignition question

my 73 challenger is having trouble running..it will fire up fine , but i have to hold the key forward in order to keep it running. anytime i let the key go, the car shuts off.  is this the ignition switch?....thanks christian

That would be my first guess.  :thumbs:  Too bad it isn't something easier to change.

 could be a bad ballast also check the ballast first

I had the identical thing happen with my '74'. And what it turned out being was one of the ignition wires had pulled out of the firewall connector. Wish I could remember which one it was, all I do remember was that it was black.
