I have to go to work and look at these 3 Cuda's everyday
« on: May 11, 2017 - 01:43:48 AM »
Okey, it's not a bad deal, but every day I go to work, I get to look at these Cuda's . They belong to the owner of the car dealer that I work at. They always get a fair share of questions, mostly why are they in a Ford store. Anyway, I thought the folks here would enjoy some pictures.  I'll just give a little info about the cars. The orange Cuda is 1970 AAR. What makes it a little different is it was equipped with a auto trans. The blue Cuda is a 1973 340 4 speed car. Finely, the orange convertible is a 1970 Barracuda that started life as a slant 6 car. It is now a resto-mod with a 472 create hemi, 4 speed, and full Baer disc brakes.

He also has a Chrysler/Jeep store, that was actually the first dealership that his family started with. It included Plymouth until it was discontinued. Part of the reason we have the Cuda's is that we have more display room. Regardless, I like looking at them and answering questions for people. I think  is one of the reasons that I want to get back into E bodies again.

in 1990, had a chance to buy a blue 72 just like that one for $6000,
then found my yellow one.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

Sweet Rides.
We also own 3 1970 ebody Convertible, AAR, Barracuda modified.
Point out to the owner he needs chrome grill insert trim  for the AAR.  the AAR and Barracuda Gran Coupe are the only e-bodies with them.

I think the reason there are no grill inserts is because he has the wrong front grill for the AAR.
AAR grills are black and that one looks gray.  Maybe his was damaged at some point & he replaced it with a standard gray one.

I'm not sure pointing out to owner that one of his pride and joys is not correct is the best move for my employment.  I know we have had a couple of conversations about different things, and one of his comments was that owning a 100 point correct car was not super important to him. He just likes having them, and taking them out several times a year. His next project is a early '70s Duster that they are putting a modern Hemi in.

Good news is BEA offers a complete correct AAR Grill molded in black ABS with all the proper chrome & stainless trim... So if he decides he wants it right all he has to do is open his checkbook...

Great looking collection of cars, how does fraud feel about have superior cars on display in a fraud dealership?
Back in the '70's I owned a performance Valiant Pacer and worked for a fraud dealer, I placed it prominently at the front of the area set aside for the mechanic's cars where it was visible, the dealer wasn't happy and tried to get me to move it many times. At least the dealer principle owns them.   :burnout:

To be honest, I have no idea what they are thinking. They do the same with the Raptor F-150's, and Shelby GT Mustangs, even though not to the same extent. My guess is that they want to keep them somewhat rare to keep the value up for some reason. That said, the application for the GT was skewed towards people of notoriety, even if they were not true enthusiast. It might be a blessing in disguise that your father did not get approved. I heard some dealers were going to mark them up in the six figure range over sticker.  :eek7:
