Hey all!
Just bought a running/driving '71 Challenger and I pick it up memorial day weekend. It's going to need a little work to get it where I want it, and I hope to learn all I can from you guys. Not new to "new" Mopar, but I have zero experience with old Mopar. Used to have a running '79 El Camino, but when I took the 350 out 11 years ago to turn it into a 383, I lost my job and couldn't afford to put it back together. Life got in the way and it sat ever since. Instead of fixing it, I decided to get a Challenger. Anyone want to buy a rolling 79 Camino???
The car I bought was a base 340/4speed and sometime ago ended up with a '66 413 RB engine. Paint looks good, interior looks good. I want to add power steering, a new sound system, aftermarket AC, and power brakes with a rear disk conversion soon. It also needs a manual trans console. The purists will shoot me, but it's not entirely numbers matching(some fiberglass) and it's going to end up with a modern 6.4 Hemi in the far, far future. I know there wasn't a T/A in 71, so that stripe is going to be coming off and replaced with something else, because I like the orange/black look. I've got a few more pictures, but they're all too grainy. Looking forward to the experience!
