i credit that second generation for making me the car nut i am today.  my father owns a 65 fuelie that he got some 35 years ago when i was just a young kid.  i didnt understand cars, but i knew that one was special.  id argue (and be in the minority i acknowledge) that the second gen vette is the greatest car of all time.

especially if you consider the 67 L88, of which they only made 20.
I had a chance to buy a 67 L88 in 1971 for $4500. At least it had all the
fixings a 67 L88 had.  tag that said use 103 octane gas, backfire screen over carb,
idled at 1500, etc.

Sold a white 73 just like this, due to getting married, except tan leather interior, in 1975 for $6200. Had 40,000 miles.
Bought a 1974 V6 Capri so the wife could drive it. Wah!

They look pretty.. I do like them but honestly the early cars in stock form drove like a truck....  The live axle was replaced by IRS in 62.... The brakes were changed from 4 wheel drum to 4 wheel disc in the 65-66 time frame... But the steering was junk all the way up to the 80's... In the early 80's  I spent two years working at a shop when the owner was the president of the local Corvette club.. I worked on & drove allot of early Vettes back before they got real expensive... And before there was replacement frames with fully modern suspension...

Oh in 75 4500 was all the money for a 67 427 Vette...

Wow guess what I have a vette for sale,have not put it on the market yet ,but it is a cherry car,love the car looks alot like the one you posted Cuda Bob,this one is a  72 (last year for the chrome bumpers),383 stroker ,a/c 4 speed,tilt tele steering,pw,rear defog just about every option, but it is a tribute or clone if you of an LT1 , car is super clean never ben drive in the rain so it is really clean underneath ,and I just have to many cars at this point,and need to sell this one to pay more attention to finishing our cuda ,kinda funny

67 Roadster always been my favorite Vette from the past.

There is a company in Lakewood Wa that builds retro bodies and puts them on a C5 or C6 chassis and drive-train.
Have seen a couple at local car shows and they had several at the Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale on display.
They look very well done. C6 Drive-train and interior. Your C5 or C6 convertible donor...


Lots of great bargains at Barrett Jackson by the way along with the overpriced...
