What's so ridiculous about it, other than the Darth Vader aspect and h/lamp covers and the cowl induction hood could be a wee bit lower? I've got a friend with a SBC Vega wagon and I'll tell you, your car had better be on it's best game if you figure to get by that little ba$tard. I don't think I'd pay $9k for one either, but they're quick and light. Just my

V8 Vega's are allot of fun, set up right they are allot faster than most people expect...  As far as "Tuff little cars" back in the day the standard line was"On a quiet night you can hear the Vega rust"....

Gotta love the special train cars for shipping Vega's standing on their noses.... You've heard of the "Night Train" I give you "The Vega Train"....

Had one back when I was 16 although if you listened closely you could hear the oil being used up.  I could go through a quart on a Friday night of crusin.  The manual was fun though.

I helped a buddy put an aluminum block 215cu Buick V8 kit in his Vega back in the mid-late 70's. He ran the hell outta it until he finally put a rod through the side of it a couple years later.

"On a quiet night you can hear the Vega rust".  Ain't THAT the truth?! I, personally, must've changed a couple of hundred fenders on Vegas under GM's campaign. The General magnanimously paid .9hr to change one- a rusted one at that. The 74's and on paid 1.2. We had one of the Frenchmen come and haul away a 5 ton stake truck full of nothing but Vega fenders, if you can believe THAT. We also had one mechanic who's job, every day and all day, was to yank, rebuild and replace Vega engines. I can't imagine how much GM spent trying to get out from under that little turd. Regardless, the V8 converted ones were fast.

My brother bought a 1976 Cosworth Vega new back in the day in black.
The car had a dual cam, 16 valve engine with a 5 speed manual trans.
I was shocked at the speed and performance of that little car.
This was a time when I was driving a 440 Challenger RT SE, automatic car w 323 gears.
The Challenger was faster but that Vega could put up a good fight.
Just thinking about how much fun the Vega was.
I know it wasn't your typical Vega, but it reminds me of some good times back then.

Vegas have top honors for worst car made that's for sure. I remember them rusting around the Windows too. In high school I worked at a gas station, a customer who had a vega would always say check the gas, fill the oil. In those days street racing was big, V8 Vegas were tuff to beat, not the fastest always, but it was gonna be a race!  I remember 4 of us went with a friend  in his vega ( stock 4 banger ) to SF just to drive around. It couldn't take the hills and finally died going up one of them, so he yells out he window to the guy behind us to push him, I'm thinking no way. Bam I'll be he pushed us to the top and just turned away like it was nothing. We barley made it home oil in the water or vise versa.

That's cool I have never seen that before. Didn't understand how they got the next row out, but I see it's just the other side of the rail car. Cool idea should had that guy designing the Vega!
