« on: May 31, 2017 - 11:58:08 PM »
hi everybody I need some advice on a camshaft its says engle hyd rv 100c then on the bottom says j 12 , googled it and found nothing , and also a stroker kit 440/510 im told 4.250 , with stock rods recon with stronger rod bolts and forged 30 cc pistons 4.370 bore , 346 heads that are 86 cc , im told its 9.3 with zero deck , does this sound right the comp and is it strange its got stock rods with a stroker ?its all brand new , worth buying ????I thought most good strokers had aftermarket  rods ,does this sound like a nice little package I must say I have never heard of a 510 stroker ?

you would want aftermarket rods for strength and less weight. I used Manleys.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

the cam sounds like an old RV grind, as for the stroker, well the only way to stroke is shorter rods, shorter pistons or a shorter cylinder, so if you have or he has stock rods (and btw my guess is recon means reconditioned) then the 30cc pistons described must be shorter pistons than stock, I would be Leary of this purchase

The pistons look short or is that normal stroker , not trying to build a monster but a stroker would be cool heaps of low to midrange power but yeah heads are the heart to a engine hey ,it's a hard call mate

I suspect this may be a stroker kit for a 400 B block (or similar) which uses standard 440 rod length. Here is some specs from Muscle Motors:
http://www.musclemotorsracing.com/new-page/

The 440/505-512 w/ 4.25" stroke kits use a 7.100 rod length.
