New guy from Michigan
« on: June 03, 2017 - 04:34:41 PM »
Hey guys I'm new to these forums as well as mopars. Grew up wrenching on various Chevys and vintage BMWs so this is a change for me lol. Picked up a bronze colored 1973 340/auto 'Cuda a few weeks back and am very excited to get started on it. Unfortunately I have a few projects in line before I can roll it into my workspace. I plan to start a project related thread once I start making progress.

See you guys around!

Welcome, neighbor!

So is yours a Tahitian Gold Poly 73 Cuda? That was the original color of mine... previous owner tried repainting it, and did not like the way it came out, so changed it to Lemon Twist... I have pics of original owner showing what it looked like back then... not too bad, but I sorta like the color it is now...

Howdy!

According to the build sheet it was a "Bronze Poly" so I'll assume that it was Tahitian Gold Poly (I'm still learning all the mopar color names). Regardless the paint is in such bad shape now it's closer to a dull **** brown haha. I've seen the color online and really like it. Still not sure if I'll end up going that route when the time comes or not. Definitely wouldn't choose it over lemon twist.

Sweet, thanks. It's a K6 autumn bronze car.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to making some progress on it. Planning on starting a restoration thread for it within a month or so.

So what kinda shape is the Cuda in??? Is the 340 the original?

I've got two 340's... a 70 340 with high compression to toy around with, and the numbers 340 low compression one that came in the car - sitting on stand in garage...

You are supposed to drive it in summer, work on it over winter... LOL

Sadly it'll be in no shape to drive this summer. Its pretty much your typical mid-western non numbers matching basket case. Gonna be a project/restomod that spans the course of a few years. On the bright side I got a good deal on the car and was able to buy a 440/4sp that's been cluttering a friends garage.

Sounds like you've got a good setup going. Keeps everything numbers matching and still lets you have some fun. Definitely a good way to go. Do you have a build thread?

No, I don't... just doing priority things as they come along... try to drive it as much as possible... did a front driver's side frame rail replacement this last winter, so just gonna enjoy cruising with better half this summer... still lots to do, but will get there a bit at a time... too roadworthy to start tearing into it too much...!!

Sounds like a pretty solid ride! I'd be enjoying it too!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes.

I've got a decent amount of family around Howell. You might see another 'Cuda cruising in your area eventually lol
