Those who said torque converter bolts were right, they had come loose and where letting the TC slap around on the flex plate.
Seems weird that all 4 would come loose.

came loose because not torqued properly?  May need new bolts?

Must be too much pre-load on the muffler bearings after FI installation, or worst case scenario - a loose framowitz knudsen valve popping off!!!

that is the question!

Just a guess here but i think the converter bolts were loose to begin with. The FiTech didn't "self tune" yet so the idle was a little rough making the converter rattle at idle. Again, just a guessing.  :clueless:

I'm guessing it was just a bad coincidence, car's been down for at least 2 months while I worked on and off on the fuel injection conversion.
I finally get it to the point of being able to try it out, and that was what I heard.  No issues before I started the FiTech install.

aren't those bolts supposed to be replaced on occassion?

You can replace them with ARP bolts or use Loctite. Loose converter bolts are a common problem on all makes.

IMO, Loose TC bolts can also damage the threads of the bosses and degrade retention. New bolts, clean threads of all oil, Loctite and torque. Wait for the Loctite to setup after your install.

Also, I had leaking valve covers.  Finally noticed the threads on the valve cover bolts were about gone!
If a bolt comes lose, most likely the installer messed up somehow.
