70 Challenger grill NOS in box.
« on: July 05, 2005 - 12:36:33 PM »
I ran into an old friend and after talking about his Cuda, he wants to know what I think his NOS 70 Challenger grill and left and right headlight pieces are worth.  These are genuine Mopar pieces, still in the boxes.

Any help on value ?

Thanks,

P.G.

P.G.,
Are these the black or argent silver style? The black brings a little more $$$. This is what I get for following E-Bay.  If you sold them all as a set, I could see a little over $2,000.

If you're selling them to me then they're only worth 50 bucks. But since Im a nice guy, I'll give you 60 ;D I dont understand why the black ones would go for more, its easier to take an argent one and paint it black than vice versa. I personally feel that 2k is a high, but with the way NOS parts are going it is probably right.

It's not as simple as painting the argent ones black. The argent is rough testure and besides, on the r/t black versions there is a polished area that is different than the argent version.

That's "rough texture"

I would give $1500 right now for an nos 70 chal grille and headlamp bezels. My used 71 cuda grille was $800 and that was six years ago. Now they can go for $3000.
I have to add that there are a lot more surviving 70 chal grilles though since they're made of aluminum. The cuda grilles tend to get very brittle and unfortunately, most people stored their extra grilles in the attic or rafters of their shop which definitely didn't help. I have several chal grilles and bezels but they all need work.

On ebay recently there have been a few nos 70 Chally grills (black) that went for $800 and $900 still in the box........now as for the headlite bezels add that on top of it........but there are still quite a few 70 Challenger grills out there that can be had for $300 to $500.   So you really have to be a concours, no holds or $$$ barred kind of guy or gal to want to pay extra for this.........

Put it on Ebay...remember, it's only 'worth' what someone is willing to pay...
