2010 Challenger, hard starting

My brother in law has a 2010 SE coupe with the V-6 motor.
I think I may know what is happening but let me run this by you.
In the mornings, the car will start right up, but as the day goes on, the car will turnover, but does not start right away.
I had this issue on the truck and it was the fuel pressure regulator going bad but that was on a GMC.
Does this sound like it could be the same issue?
If so, how hard is it to replace one?

Is that a job for someone like me or does he need to take it to a shop?

Is the sensor located on the side of the bell housing or somewhere else?

If this sensor would be bad, would it throw off a service engine light or not?

I have an 07 charger srt and I had the same problem. The car would crank and buck and not start on first try so iwould wait a second and it would fire up. Thought it was the fuel pump until one day when it wouldnt crank because the battery was dead. Repalced the battery and no more starting problems.

This is where my thoughts are too.

I don't know where you live, but extreme heat is as bad as freezing temperatures on your battery. If it's the original battery, it is time to change it out.

Thank you for your postings.
I do have a question about the battery comments.
If it would be a battery issue, wouldn't this happen all the time?
The car starts fine in the morning, but as the day goes on, it cranks over a few times before it starts.
It reminds me a lot of how my truck acted when the fuel pressure regulator was going out.
I'll see if the cars does any bucking or anything like that and check how old the battery is.

He just told me the battery is 3 years old, the car runs fine, only issue is with the hard starting after the car has been driven for a while.

I had the same issue on my 07 Grand Cherokee 5.7 Hemi.  The car would turn over just fine but it was very difficult to get started.  Finally one day it didn't turn over at all so I replaced the battery.  Since then it has started up right away every time.

Well gentleman, for those that said it could be the battery, I told him what you said and he took the car in to have the battery tested.
They said the battery had a charge but was testing very badly so he got a new one.
Hopefully that was his problem.

Ok, I just check with him this week and he claims it is still doing the same problem, but just not as much.

What are the chances that "both" things could have happened at the same time, battery and crankshaft sensor?

If the battery was low, could that have somehow affected the sensor and caused it to go bad?

Anyway to check the sensor?
